Google released a feature called Timelapse which is a 4D interactive time-lapse, in google Earth that lets you watch how the Earth has changed over 4 decades starting 1984.
Some numbers behind it: –
- It compiles 24 million photos taken from 1984 to 2020.
- It took 2 million processing hours across thousands of machines in Google Cloud.
Google partnered with organizations including NASA and the US Geological Survey’s Landsat program to collect the images. They also said that they stood by their commitment to use 100% renewable energy to achieve this feat.
